Karachi · Established 1959
Hafiz Abdul Baqi & Co is a full-service Pakistani law firm founded by Hafiz Abdul Baqi, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. For over six decades we have advised and represented clients before every forum in the country — with judgment, discretion and an unbroken standard of care.
Practising since 1959The Firm
Founded in 1959, the firm has served three generations of clients from its chambers on M. A. Jinnah Road, in the heart of Karachi’s legal district.
Founded by Hafiz Abdul Baqi, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the practice is today led by a Barrister of Lincoln's Inn — combining six decades of standing before the Pakistani courts with training at the English Bar.
We are committed to providing our clients with quality, comprehensive, timely and cost-effective legal services. That commitment is not a slogan — it is the working method of the firm. Matters are handled by senior counsel from first instruction to final order, so the lawyer who advises you is the lawyer who appears for you.
Our work spans the full range of Pakistani law: corporate and commercial advisory, civil and criminal litigation, constitutional petitions, banking, taxation, property, family and succession, and admiralty. Whatever the forum, the approach is the same — thorough preparation, candid advice, and disciplined advocacy.
Practice Areas
Clients rarely arrive with a problem that sits neatly inside a single discipline. We are structured so that they need not go elsewhere.
Company formation and secretarial practice, joint ventures, shareholder arrangements, commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory compliance.
Contentious civil work before the District Courts, the High Court of Sindh and the Supreme Court — contractual disputes, recovery suits, injunctions and execution.
Defence and prosecution across the criminal courts, including bail, trial advocacy, appeals, white-collar offences and matters before the special tribunals.
Facility and security documentation, Islamic finance structures, and recovery and enforcement before the Banking Courts.
Constitutional petitions and judicial review under Articles 199 and 184(3), service matters, regulatory challenges and fundamental-rights litigation.
Income tax, sales tax and customs advisory, assessments and audits, and appeals before the Commissioner, the Appellate Tribunal and the superior courts.
Title investigation and due diligence, conveyancing, development agreements, landlord and tenant matters, and partition and possession suits.
Marriage, dissolution, guardianship and maintenance before the Family Courts, together with succession certificates, letters of administration and estates.
Admiralty jurisdiction of the High Court of Sindh — vessel arrest and release, cargo claims, charterparty and bill of lading disputes, and marine insurance.
A working libraryOverseas Pakistanis
Property, inheritance and family matters do not pause because you live abroad — and distance is exactly what makes them go wrong.
The firm acts for Pakistanis in the Gulf, the United Kingdom, North America, Europe and Australia whose property, estates or families require representation at home. Almost everything can be conducted under a properly executed power of attorney, without your travelling.
Immigration & Visa
Study, work, family, business and visitor applications for the UK, Canada, Australia, the United States, Europe, China and the Gulf. Most refusals from Pakistan are documentary failures, not merits decisions — and documentation is what a law firm does.
Visitor, student, skilled worker, family and settlement applications — eligibility assessment, documentation and supporting submissions prepared from Karachi.
Express Entry, study permits, visitor visas, family sponsorship and provincial nomination — profile assessment and documentation from Pakistan.
Student, skilled, visitor and family visas — eligibility assessment, evidence preparation and the Genuine Student requirement.
Visitor, student, exchange and immigrant visa applications — documentation, interview preparation and the section 214(b) problem.
Short-stay Schengen visas, national long-stay visas and European study and work routes — documentation and cover letters.
Employment, residence and family visas for the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and the wider Gulf, and the attestation they require.
